Best Retirement City - Logan

See why many believe that Logan is the best city to retire

Logan, located in Cache County, Utah, and just 82 miles north of Salt Lake City, is perhaps best known for being the site of Utah State University, which provides the community with educational opportunities, culture and arts, as well as athletic programs. Logan State University is also the city’s largest employer, although non-university employees can found be found gainfully employed in agriculture, manufacturing and processing, retail, and in medical services. Additionally, Logan has a reputation for being the safest metropolitan area in the US, and was twice declared the safest city by Morgan Quitno Press. The heart of Logan is full of historic sites, as well as famous worship sites including the Logan Tabernacle and the Logan Utah Temple, which were purposely built on the highest hill in town. Logan Canyon offers ample fun for outdoorsy folks who enjoy rock-climbing, hiking, camping, fishing, snowmobiling, hunting, and skiing. Smithfield, otherwise known as White Horse Village, is a very nice area for low to upper-middle class families due its low crime rates, excellent schools, and family-friendly feel. Logan also is a magnificent place to live for young people, students, and families due its wealth of cultural and arts opportunities such as the Utah Festival Opera and the Ellen Eccles Theatre.
