Retire in Naples

Meet Beverly

Want to know what it's like to retire in Naples?

Originally from Massachusetts, I attended graduate school at The University of Pennsylvania. Choosing to remain there, I taught in inner city Philadelphia for 38 years. I retired in 2012 and moved to Naples soon thereafter. It was a decision I have never regretted!

So Beverly, what about Naples initially appealed to you?

The beauty of the beaches and the number of great fine dining options in the area.

What is an aspect of the area that you, or other retirees may dislike?

Newcomers need to learn the back roads to avoid frustration during the busier seasons!

What is an aspect of your daily life in the area that you weren't expecting before you moved?

All the great outdoors activities I get to enjoy year round, like biking, kayaking, swimming, and fishing! I spend at least four hours a day enjoying the outdoors, even in the summer months.

If you ever left Naples, what would you miss the most?

I would definitely miss the beautiful beaches!

What advice would you have for people moving to this community?

Naples is a welcoming city, and finding volunteer opportunities that fit can bring you joy and many wonderful new friends! I volunteer at the Harry Chapin Food Bank once a week and through this I have made some great friendships. I joined a fishing ladies group and now paint as part of the Empty Bowls Project. Fun and rewarding!
